Welcome to Sea Palling & Waxham Community Website

We are two small villages on the North Norfolk Coast that contain everything needed for a really good holiday or shorter break whether you have family with you or not!

Sea Palling, on account of the nine off-shore reefs built as part of the flood prevention scheme, has a wonderful sandy beach, which has been awarded and retained the coveted Blue Flag award for several years. During the summer, there are Royal National Lifeboat Institute lifeguards on duty every day and additionally our Inshore Lifeboat Crew all carry pagers so the boat is on call 24 hours a day 365 days a year. As well as good swimming , there is also provision for launching personal water crafts.

There are two pubs, cafes, amusement arcade, a Post Office and general store, farm shop and a stall which sells fish caught locally. The market town of Stalham is four miles away. There is a regular direct bus service during the week to Wroxham and onto Norwich for shopping and sight seeing. We are equidistant from the seaside resorts of Great Yarmouth and Cromer.

If you are interested in nature then the Norfolk Wildlife Trust reserve at Hickling is only four miles away and both the NWT and RSPB have reserves easily reached by car. A walk along the beach towards Waxham and Horsey (National Trust) may well be rewarded with sightings of seals. For historians there is the famous Waxham Barn which has been rebuilt following severe damage in the Great Storm of October 1987. Originally built by the Wodehouse family in the late 16th. Century, it is one of the largest in the country. Norwich, some twenty miles away, is famed for having the greatest number of medieval churches in northern Europe, together with the only remaining complete medieval friary in the country.

Village Hall

A thank you to the National Lottery, Awards for All.

T
he National Lottery came up trumps for the Village Hall when it was confirmed by the 'Awards For All' team that their application had been successful. The application was to extend the car park and renovate the old bike sheds which had become unusable for most purposes. I'm very pleased to say that work has progressed quickly over the last 5 weeks, thanks in the main to Steve Davis who has worked so hard to assist us. The extended car park will provide extra parking, a dedicated Disabled parking area and much more room to manoeuvre vehicles safely. The renovated sheds will provide dry, safe and secure storage which the hall badly needs in order to offer more scope to our activities and fund raising. Thanks again 'Awards for All' and just maybe those of you who do enjoy a little flutter will have some luck too.

Palling Beach

Not only has Sea Palling retained its Blue Flag for 2009 but a recent survey from the Marine Conservation Society reports that we had excellent water quality last year and have continued to have 'recommended status'. Less than half of the U.K.'s beaches achieve this grade. Further information on www.goodbeachguide.co.uk
